Inventec Corporation, a renowned Taiwanese producer of electronics and IT components, has opened its new manufacturing plant in the town of Blučina near Brno. With an area of 52,000 m2, the new complex will serve as the company’s European centre consolidating production, logistics and services for customers under one roof. The project is considered to be of strategic importance not only for Inventec, but also for Czechia and the broader European market.

The new production capacities are a crucial part of Inventec’s “in Europe for Europe” strategy, which has the purpose of increasing the resilience of the supply chain and making it possible for the company to flexibly respond to the changing geopolitical situation and to be closer to its European customers. Inventec is another company that is following the nearshoring trend, as numerous Asian firms are shifting production to Central and Eastern Europe. Other factors involved in this trend include lower costs, greater availability of workers with higher skills and the European Union’s growing emphasis on local production and cybersecurity.

“The opening of the new production facility is not only a business success, but also a symbol of the growing partnership between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. At a time when we are facing challenges associated with the restructuring of the global supply chain, Taiwan is committed to being a reliable and trustworthy partner. Through initiatives such as the Trusted Technology Taiwan strategy, we are striving to build resilient, secure and promising cooperation with Europe, right here in the Czech Republic,” Remus Li-Kuo Chen, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague.

“Inventec’s new high-tech plant is a good illustration of the fact that the Czech Republic is an attractive destination for investments in advanced technologies and that the country supports long-term partnerships with global technology leaders. At the same time, the project is deepening the economic relations between Czechia and Taiwan. We are united by the conviction that investments in advanced technologies and education are of key importance for innovation and sustainable growth, and that such cooperation brings forth not only economic, but also social and cultural benefits,” said Jan Michal, CEO of CzechInvest, on the occasion of the plant’s opening.

High-tech production facilities for servers, chips and advanced electronics

Inventec is progressively consolidating its existing operations from Modřice near Brno and Slatina in the central complex at CTPark Blučina, where it has leased a building with an area of 52,000 m2. The high-tech production facilities with strictly controlled temperature, humidity and air cleanliness take up 30,000 m2 of the total space. In these modern conditions, the company will continue with its production of specialised chips for the automotive industry, servers and IT products, including printed circuit boards and other advanced electronic components for leading global technology and automotive brands.

“The relocation to our new facilities at CTPark Blučina represents a new phase in the growth of our business in Europe. From there, we can centralise our European manufacturing operations, while also providing faster and more efficient services to our customers,” John Busby, executive director of Inventec Czech.

At its new facilities, the company will increase its overall server production capacity by 15%. At the same time the premises will enable it to provide faster deliveries while achieving better harmonisation with technology giants in the area of cloud computing and support for meeting the demand for servers intended for artificial intelligence and edge computing. New job opportunities will also become available. Once the plant is operating at full capacity, Inventec may create as many as 1,000 additional jobs.

Inventec’s new facility strengthens the position of CTPark Blučina

The ceremonial handover of the new premises was attended by representatives of  Inventec Corporation and Inventec Czech, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, the South Moravia Region and CzechInvest. “We have been collaborating with Inventec continuously since the beginning of the millennium, when we assisted the company with selecting a suitable location for its first plant in Czechia. Today we are supporting the company’s expansion by, for example, coordinating the assurance of sufficient energy capacities for the new production facilities and top-level server assembly lines so that the company can flexibly respond to the rising demand for products intended for artificial intelligence and other industrial segments,” said Gabriela Bauerová, head of the Investment Development Department at CzechInvest.

The new plant in South Moravia was built by CTP, one of Europe’s leading industrial-property development companies. “The project for Inventec is one of the biggest that we have implemented in Czechia. It was also one of the most challenging, as the client’s technical requirements called for expansive clean spaces with a precisely controlled environment,” said Jakub Kodr, managing director of CTP for the Czech Republic.

The new facility for Inventec is part of the broader development of CTPark Blučina, where CTP is currently preparing additional premises with an area of 38,000 m2, while also working on plans for other buildings that will increase the supply of modern premises for manufacturing and technology companies at this strategic location on the outskirts of Brno.
